The Sunshine School association in Switzerland and the NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Nepal work together for the Sunshine School. You can find out how the two institutions organize themselves and who we are in this section.
The Sunshine School has given itself structures in Switzerland and Nepal to bring as much security and continuity to the project. In Switzerland there is an association under the ZGB and in Nepal there is an NGO under Nepalese law.

The board in Switzerland mainly takes care of fundraising and can thus participate in decisions at school. The NGO in Kathmandu has the task of leading the school on a strategic level. The school management takes care of the operational management of the school.
The exchange is important for the association in Switzerland and the school in Kathmandu. That is why representatives from Switzerland visit the school at least once a year. The purpose of the visits is to exchange and plan, but also to carry out a control of the accounting.
The NGO consists of seven members and has the function of preparing strategic decisions in consultation with the Swiss board and communicating on site.
The governing body of the NGO must consist of seven Nepalese citizens. The NGO was founded in 2008 to regulate the ownership of the property and the school building in the most sustainable way possible. The panel can only decide on ownership together and therefore a situation in which only one person can make decisions is not possible.

The association has received the tax exemption. Donations can therefore be deducted from taxes.
The association currently has approximately 170 members. A large part comes from Switzerland and others are at home in Germany and the USA.

At irregular intervals we present the Sunshine School with a picture presentation in schools, churches or other locations.
Every year we have a stand at various markets and sell handicrafts from Nepal, fine braids and cookies or cards made by the children of the Sunshine School.
Project weeks are regularly held in schools. The topic of Nepal and the way of life of children in Nepal is a fascinating topic.
Charity concerts were an important pillar in the start-up phase of the school. If you have ideas and / or organizational skills, we look forward to hearing from you.
Every year at the GV, the members of our association are served a fine Daal Bhat (the national dish of Nepal) and the members exchange information about Nepal and the Sunshine School in a relaxed atmosphere.
If you are interested in helping actively in one of our activities or if you have a new idea, you are very welcome with your energy. Contact!
